History

The Cranial-cerebral traumas Association of Gaspe Peninsula and Magdalen Islands was established the 24th of August 1993 by a person who has suffer of a cranial-cerebral trauma who though that the appropriate services for his needs were not available in the area he was living in.

At the beginning, self-help groups were created to support the members.  With time and available budgets, the services evolved and permanent staff were hire. To meet the demand of the CVA persons and of the network professionals, the Association included a new category of members. The 31st of August 1998, the Association changes its corporate name for the "Association des TCC et ACV de la Gaspésie et des Îles-de-la-Madeleine inc." Today, the Association has 260 members all over the Gaspe Peninsula and Magdalen Islands areas from which a board of directors of 7 representatives is set up. Finally, the General Manager, the clinical/responder dispatcher and the responders ensure the members services.
